Foursquare Introduces “Local Updates”

Foursquare is making it even easier for businesses to share updates with loyal customers. Their new local updates tools are designed to create even more engagement among mobile shoppers.

Foursquare learns who your best customers are and shares your business updates within their friends tab – all while maintaing location specific references. Moment capture engagement (picture sharing) increases the potential for engagement with local consumers.

While consumer check-in activity may be slowing , mobile growth isn’t. Foursquare users are finding even more value within the search and discovery functions within the platform. Their new app design points to this trend in user behavior and makes it easier for users to find local updates, specials and and favorites and reviews.

Foursquare’s blog shared this:

Starting today, you’ll start seeing updates in your friends tab from the places where you’re a loyal customer. It’s an easy way to keep up with news from places you frequent, including things like new specials, pictures of the latest shipment of shoes, or a serendipitous food truck appearance. The best part is there’s no extra work for you to do: we already know you care about a place if you’ve checked in often or liked it, and will show you updates from it when you’re in the same city. If you change your mind and don’t want updates from a business any more, you can turn them off with one tap.
